Corporate

As a Corporate Outreach Organizer, you will contact and secure sponsorships from corporate partners, including financial contributions, in-kind donations, mentorship opportunities, and promotional merchandise for UCI's premier hackathons. You'll actively build relationships with tech companies, local companies, and our alumni network through email outreach, video calls, career fairs, and networking events. In the past two years, our team has secured $60,000+ in funding and partnered with 22+ companies for events including IrvineHacks 2025, Orange County's largest collegiate hackathon. This position requires diligent communication skills as you'll represent Hack at UCI to potential sponsors, follow up consistently, and track all interactions.

Beyond contributing to our organization's success, you'll develop valuable professional connections that could lead to internships or full-time positions. You will gain hands-on experience in sponsorship negotiation, professional networking, and corporate communication while directly impacting the quality of UCI's hackathon experiences for hundreds of student participants. You'll work cross-functionally under the guidance of our Corporate Outreach Directors as part of a dynamic 40+ member team dedicated to hosting events that embody our core values: create innovative solutions, connect diverse communities, and inspire the next generation of students.

Key Responsibilities

Establish and maintain relationships with corporate sponsors through consistent communication.
Track sponsorship agreements and ensure all commitments are fulfilled.
Represent Hack at UCI in professional settings and discussions with industry representatives.
Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments

Key Qualifications

Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency with Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides).
Highly organized with attention to detail and responsiveness.
Experienced in drafting professional documents.
Resilience to rejection.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Commitment of ~5 hours weekly to Hack.

Logistics

The logistics team organizes all hackathon operations, as well as other events during the year such as workshops and socials. We are a detail-oriented and impact-driven team, uniting diverse backgrounds and skill sets to ensure that events run smoothly and benefit all parties involved.

Key Qualifications

Excellent time management skills
Great planning and organization skills
Attention to detail
Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially in a timely and efficient manner for issues (within 1 business day)
Drive to work in a fast paced environment
Work in a team based environment in order to meet goals
Handle a large budget in order to organize events efficiently
Proficient in managing information through folders (Google Drive), spreadsheets (Google Sheets), and documents (Google Docs)
Willing to dedicate ~5 hours per week to Hack (meeting, content creation, etc.)
Able to lead small teams of 3-4 organizers
Most importantly, willingness to adapt and learn new things

Marketing

As a marketing organizer, your responsibilities vary from sending emails to making posts on social media platforms in a witty and creative manner. This role demands not only meeting strict deadlines but also excelling in communication, as effective engagement with the public is the essence of marketing.

Key Qualifications

Exceptional communication and writing skills
Experience with email and social media marketing campaigns (Instagram, Discord, MailChimp)
Creative and critical thinking abilities
Drive to work in a fast-paced cross-functional team
Photography and videography skills preferred

Graphics

As a graphic designer, you will be responsible for creating graphics that represent our organization and events for various platforms, such as Facebook or Instagram. Designers also shape the theme and aesthetic for ZotHacks and IrvineHacks. Each design will follow general guidelines and have to be submitted for review before the given deadlines. You must be detail-oriented and have proficient knowledge of visual design, color theory, and typography. You will also be working closely with the web development team, so experience with HTML and CSS is a plus, but not required. Strong collaboration skills are also essential, as you will work with other members to contribute to club events.

Key Qualifications

Proficiency in graphic design
Creative and critical thinking abilities
Experience using a raster graphics editor (ex. Adobe Photoshop, Fire Alpaca, etc.)
Experience using a vector graphics editor (ex. Adobe Illustrator, Figma, Inkscape, etc.)
Willing to dedicate ~4 hours per week to Hack (meeting, content creation, etc.)

Technology

Every year, thousands of students across the country apply to our annual hackathons on our website. In addition, our website also receives a huge amount of traffic from various companies who visit our website to obtain sponsorship information. By joining the Technology team, you not only get to work on a large-scale hackathon application tracking platform, but you also have the opportunity to build exciting internal tools for our organizers so that they can work more efficiently.

As a general developer, you will design and develop an eye-catching user interface that delivers a good first impression to both attendees and sponsors. You will also be tasked with building our server-side application or setting up and maintaining databases.

Key Qualifications

Ability to write clean, well-documented code
Proficiency in HTML, CSS and JavaScript
Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks
Experience with version control systems (e.g. Git)

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with front-end styling libraries (e.g. Tailwind, Radix, etc.)
Experience developing web applications with React
Experience with backend web frameworks (e.g. Express, FastAPI)
Experience using cloud databases
